Car free travel
It is certainly possible to travel to Downash Wood Treehouses without a car.
The closest train stations are Stonegate and Wadhurst with regular trains from London and Hastings. If cycling Stonegate is 3.5 miles away. Wadhurst station is recommended for the 1066 bus service which takes you to the top of Tinkers Lane, known as Dale Hill Tinkers Lane bus stop and we are then a 5 - 10 minute walk down the lane. Or either station if you book a cab in advance from our recommended firms below.
Downash Wood is accessible to local amenities. The Bull Inn is a 10 minute walk to the end of Tinkers Lane serving great food and drink. Ticehurst village is 20 minutes on public footpaths in dry months and a 30 minute walk along the roads in wet months where you can find a Londis convenience store, artisan shops and the award winning Bell Inn for fab food and drink in superb surroundings.
There is a Londis convenience store in Ticehurst village which is a 3-4 minute drive away and does all the essentials you may need for your stay.
There is a Waitrose supermarket in Hawkhurst which is a 8-10 minute drive away.
There is a Tesco supermarket in Hawkhurst which is a 8-10 minute drive away.
If you are travelling south on the A21 there is a M&S Food in the BP petrol station known as Blueboy's service station, Matfield TN12 7HE which is 15 minutes from Downash Wood.
There are Budgens on either side of the A21 at Hurst Green which is 10 minutes from Downash Wood travelling South on the A21.
The nearest hospital is Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury which has an A&E department.
